Kitesurfing at Hendaye

Hendaye, on the Basque coast right beside the Spanish border, has the longest beach in the French Basque Country, sheltered between two headlands. This orientation tames the Atlantic swell, giving cleaner, more manageable water than the exposed beaches to the north. Westerly to northerly winds work best, and the gentle conditions make it one of the friendliest spots in the region.
