Kitesurfing at Neeltje Jans
CHECKING WIND
Medium waves
Advanced
Neeltje Jans is a quiet North Sea beach on the former work island of the Oosterschelde storm surge barrier. From the Roompotsluis car park it is a good walk north to the southern end of the beach, where kiting is allowed. The pier keeps the current weak: at low tide the water is fairly flat, at high tide there is short chop. The wind turbines make southerly and south-westerly wind gusty near the dike, so stay well clear of them.
Best wind directions: N, NW, W, SW
Rules and kite zone: Neeltje Jans at the NKV (Dutch kitesurf association)
