The Étang de Thau, launched from the Marseillan shore, is the largest lagoon in Languedoc and a superb flat-water playground. The Tramontane blows offshore across shallow, standing-depth water, giving butter-flat conditions that are perfect for beginners and freestylers. Sheltered from the sea swell, it is one of the most reliable learning spots on the French Mediterranean.
